Are your daily habits boosting or draining your energy?
Do you ever feel like life runs a little on autopilot?
We try and be intentional going into our days but the weeks tend to whizz by in a blur.
We rarely take much time to reflect on if our daily habits and behaviours are serving us or not.
So let's do a little 'habit audit' for you now..
You might be like "But Elise...I don't really have many habits". The truth is we all do, even if we are not super conscious of them.
Behaviours we repeat every (or most) days.
You can do this with a pen and paper or on the notes section or your phone or if you're on the go just in your head!
Visualise your day from morning through to evening. An average working day for you.
Write down some key things you do most days. So your list might look likeβ¦
Have coffee first thing
Eat bagel for breakfast
Sit at my desk till lunch
Go for short walk
Finish the day with a clear plan for tomorrow
Cook dinner
Check my phone and emails for notifications
Next you are going to right next to each if it this boosts your energy levels and well-being, or drains it
So it might look like...
Have coffee first thing- Drains (if I had it after eating and waited 90 mins after waiting it would be more positive)
Eat bagel for breakfast- Drains (not a balanced breakfast so quick energy burst then crash)
Sit at my desk till lunch- Drains (lack of movement makes me feel tired)
Go for short walk- Boost
Finish the day with a clear plan for tomorrow- Boost
Cook dinner- Boost but could make it more mindful and less of a chore
Check my phone and emails for notifications- Drains!
Now you have clear and simple focus areas you can look at and start to make changes too so you can have better energy by tomorrow! How good!
Pick just 1-2 of these to focus on for the next 30 days (start small, donβt overwhelm yourself)
I try do this simple audit every few months just to make sure unhelpful habits haven't crept in and that I am still supporting my energy as best I can every day.
